As Senior Quality/Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for developing new and existing processes to improve product quality and manufacturing productivity.

As the Senior Quality/Welding Engineer you must have strong knowledge of welding fundamentals and be CSWIP qualified. Ideally you will have the ability to perform various NDT weld inspection methods.

You will be working closely with the project engineering team you will lead the development of weld procedure specifications for new products and be pivotal in ensuring that appropriate processes are followed during development to achieve consistent, high quality product at serial manufacture.

Our Client designs and manufactures exhaust after-treatment systems, reducing emissions from heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Our Client also supplies replacement products to the UK and European independent Aftermarket.

Senior Quality Engineer Role:

Working closely with the project engineering team to define production welding processes.
Generate weld procedure specifications for development projects.
Facilitate the generation of weld procedure qualification records.
Support the welder qualification process.
Support with developing processes for manufacturing new products.
Weld non-destructive testing.
Weld macrographic examination.
Support engineering method development work.
Deliver feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Any other duties assigned in line with scope of role.
Understand risk management in the context of IATF as applies to this role.
Demonstrate and uphold the company values.

Senior Quality Engineer Requirements:

Diploma in Engineering or related Science, Batchelor`s degree desirable
CSWIP weld inspector.
Chartered Engineer desirable.
Ability to create WPSs and coordinate WPQRs.
Dye penetrant testing.
Ability to create technical documentation and display good presentation skills.
Ability to read, analyse & interpret engineering drawings.
Demonstrated application of engineering and scientific principles.
A good balance of theoretical understanding and practical knowledge with the drive to see the project through to completion.
Demonstrated problem solving skills and techniques.
Ability to work effectively within teams and liaise across functions.
Ability to introduce new methods and ideas ensuring a continuous improvement ethos.
Demonstrates attention to detail through all stages of processes.
Can work and communicate effectively with others.
Ability to perform various NDT weld inspection methods.
Weld macrographic examination.

Knowledge and experience:

Essential:
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of welding fundamentals.
Experience in weld fabrication of stainless steel.
Experience of performing process improvement work.
Good understanding of BS EN ISO 3834 weld standard.
Experience developing DFMEA, PFMEA and control plans documents.
Experience with GD&T principles.
Knowledge of IATF 16949 & ISO 9001.
Experience working with APQP / PPAP.

Desirable:
Knowledge of exhaust aftertreatment systems desirable.
Knowledge of weld testing techniques desirable.
Experience of metrology methods desirable.
