Our Client is a truly world class, family owned business. They are proud of their achievements and recognise that future growth and success is shaped by the ambition of the team. If you are looking for a career with a business where people really count, look no further.
They are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who`ll work on expanding their range of Compact Tracked Excavators through designing, developing and introducing new machines into the market, reporting in to the Principal Engineer.
Design Engineer Role:
You will be part of the team tasked with redesigning and evolving their machine range, assisting with the design of excavators, with opportunities to develop your career and specialise in particular sub-systems (including hydraulics, operator station, bodywork, structures, powertrain, etc.), depending on your skillset and interests.
Key to this is maintaining the highest possible level of reliability within an increasingly technically sophisticated product, and ensuring excellent value in our designs to create a profitable machine in an incredibly competitive market.
Preparing design concepts for test and release into production, you will also work with Quality and Service teams to solve field issues and design out potential issues from new products.
There`ll also be VAVE concepts to develop, technical specs and bills of material to prepare, it will be up to you to make calculations to substantiate engineering decisions, and prepare, update, issue and check design control documents, such as engineering change notes, timing plans and cost estimation.
Design Engineer Requirements:
You will have a good engineering knowledge of mechanical design, and experience in off-highway machine design would be advantageous, as would practical experience of working in a manufacturing environment and insight into assembly processes.
You will have a strong understanding and operational experience of 3D CAD (preferably Siemens NX) to conduct design studies and concept work.
You`ll ideally have knowledge of PLM tools (preferably Siemens Teamcenter) too, along with a working knowledge of failure prevention such as DFMEA and root cause analysis or 8D for failure investigation.
Your strong engineering background will include an Engineering Degree/HND or equivalent experience and will be supported by a proficient knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Design Engineer Benefits:
Our client will work with you to support your career progression and development. They will also provide a competitive salary, company pension scheme, medical insurance and dental care schemes, access to the company`s healthy living centre and 33 days annual leave. Relocation may be offered where necessary.
